What is Bunsamran Fishing Park?
Bun Samran Fishing Park is one of the world's largest freshwater fishing ponds located in Bangkok, Thailand. It is also famous as a fishing pond where you can catch the Mekong giant catfish, which is designated as an endangered species, and is also home to large fish such as parka fish, striped catfish, black whale, and arapaima. Rental rods are also available, so you can fish without bringing your own fishing gear. It's open 24 hours a day, you can stay in cottages, there are shops and restaurants, and it's a pretty complete facility for a fishing pond.
Bunsamran address and directions
Bunsamran has moved to the following address since March 2017.
New address: Tambon Sala Daeng, Amphoe Bang Nam Priao, Chang Wat Chachoengsao 24000
There are no trains or buses, so you will have to take a taxi. Since it has only recently been relocated, it has not yet become popular among the locals, so even if you say, ``I want to go to Bun Samran Fishing Park,'' they won't get the word out. Print out a map and show it to them in advance, or give them your address and ask them to look it up. The average fare is 500 baht from Don Mueang Airport. Be careful not to get ripped off.

If you do not pay the cottage fee at the reception, you will be fishing from the pier. The pier has a roof that protects it from the strong sunlight during the day, but it also has the disadvantage of being exposed to the afternoon sun in the evening. There are hammocks installed, so you can take a rest if you get tired.
Cottage (bungalow)

Recommended tackle and fishing methods at Bunsamran
Rental tackle is available at Bunsamran, but some people may want to use their own tackle to catch fish, so we will introduce recommended tackle and fishing methods.
Recommended tackle

Since Mekong giant catfish is the main target in Bun Samran, a strong rod is required, such as a rod for casting tuna or GT, or a rod for jigging. Similarly, the reel must be sturdy enough to withstand the strong pull of the Mekong giant catfish, so a number 6000 to 8000 is recommended. It is safe to have a PE5 line with a leader of at least 60lb of fluorocarbon. For more information on tackles, please refer to the article below.

basic fishing method
The basic fishing method is to gather the dough into balls and cast while being careful not to break them. The other thing to do is to make a hook when the float sinks, but if you make a hook the moment the float sinks, there is a high probability that you will not get a hook. Wait for 3 to 5 seconds after the float has completely sunk and feed it completely before adding it.

In addition, since Bun Samran is a fishing pond that uses an existing natural lake, in addition to big fish such as Mekong giant catfish that have been released, there are also several species of carp, giant gourami, small snakeheads, and other native fish. They live in large numbers, and with some skill you can catch them as well. If you get tired of the strong pull of Mekong giant catfish, it might be fun to play with these fish. Unexpected big things are also lurking!

If it’s your first time visiting Bunsamran, we recommend a guide!
If this is your first time fishing in Bun Samran, we recommend having a guide. This is because in Bunsamran, the quality of the bait is directly related to the fishing result, so it is better to hire a guide to make the bait in the beginning. The guide makes the bait, mixes the bait, casts, and hooks the bait, and takes turns when a fish catches. If you want to try your best on your own, you can try fishing without a guide through trial and error, but if you want to be sure to catch fish, we recommend using a guide.
Plenty of shops and restaurants
Bun Samran has a shop that is open 24 hours a day. This shop sells hot dogs, cup ramen, sweets, drinks, as well as insect repellent and detergent, making it feel like a Japanese convenience store. There is also a restaurant on site, where you can enjoy authentic Thai cuisine. Food can also be delivered, and if you order from a staff member who patrols the fishing area, there is also a service where the food will be delivered to your fishing seat.
